We think Earth Hour will show the world that by working together, even in small ways, that each of us can make a positive impact in the fight against climate change," says Steve Rizley, senior vice president and general manager of Cox Communications Arizona.
Cox will turn off all non essential lighting at 17 buildings around the state, including our Deer Valley headquarters in Phoenix and the main building in Tucson. That means, at those locations, all computers, copiers, office equipment and inside/outside lighting will go down for the entire hour. This in no way will affect any Cox customer services.
"We estimate during that one hour, Cox Arizona will save 554 total kilowatt hours of electricity. That also means we save 835 pounds of carbon dioxide from being pumped into the environment. We have been committed to going green as a company for years," says Rizley.
Cox is also encouraging; through a series of internal programs and public service announcements, its employees and customers to turn off the lights during Earth Hour. Cox has also asked its vendors to participate in Earth Hour.
