27 June 2008
Bateman Litwin awarded a EUR38 million contract by GRTgaz
Amsterdam, the Netherlands, 27 June 2008 - Bateman Litwin N.V. ("Bateman Litwin") is
pleased to announce that its wholly-owned
subsidiary Litwin SA, has been awarded, as part of a consortium, an engineering procurement
and construction contract by GRTgaz, a
subsidiary of Gaz de France, for the construction of a natural gas compressor station at Saint
Victor in the Allier dartment, central
France. The total contract is valued at EUR55 million of which Bateman Litwin's share is EUR38
million. The other consortium members are
Friedlander and Cegelc.
Since 2007, GRTgaz has committed to upgrading and renovating its natural gas compression
capacity, as part of its OSCAR (Compressor
Station Optimisation and Network Adaptation) programme.
Work on the Saint Victor site will be carried out between 2008 and 2010, and forms part of
the second phase of the GRTgaz compressor
station upgrades. The first part of the OSCAR programme was awarded to the same consortium in
December 2006.
The objective of the OSCAR program is threefold:
* Increase the gas transportation capacity to meet the customers' needs
* Comply with the new environmental requirements, especially by reducing CO2 and
nitrogen oxides
* Replace obsolete equipment
The new station, located close to the existing Saint Victor site, will be equipped with
gas turbines, including two 5 MW motor driven
compressors. The compressor stations will be located at regular intervals (every 120 to 150
km) on the gas pipelines to compensate for
pressure losses caused by the natural gas flow within the pipelines. These stations will allow
the natural gas transport network to be
operated to the best technical and most economical standards.
David Lamont, CEO of Bateman Litwin said:
"We are delighted to have been awarded this contract by GRTgaz. The repeat business
highlights our strong relationship with the Gaz de
France Group and we look forward to a long partnership with them."
