Response to retailer’s value proposition spurs further investment in market

Specialty home goods retailer Conn’s, Inc. (NASDAQ:CONN), will celebrate Independence Day with the grand opening of its new stores in Charlotte and Gastonia on Saturday, the Fourth of July, with gift card giveaways, storewide promotions and an opportunity for local customers to enter to win a $10,000 shopping spree.

Conn’s HomePlus offers high-quality and affordable products, specializing in furniture and mattresses, home appliances, consumer electronics and home office products.

The new 46,000 square-foot Charlotte store, located at 8709 JW Clay Blvd., is the second Conn’s location in the city and is expected to create 30 jobs. More positions will also be added to staff the Conn’s distribution center in Charlotte. The 43,000 square-foot Gastonia store at 197 New Hope Drive, has created 28 jobs and Conn’s plans to hire more in the months to come.

The new stores are part of Conn’s national growth strategy of opening 15–18 stores in the 12 months beginning February 2015. The Company has plans to open four additional stores in North Carolina this year, bringing their store total to seven in the state, generating 160 jobs by the end of October. Conn’s has more than 90 stores in 12 states.

“Opening these new stores in Charlotte and Gastonia reflects the positive reception we’ve received in the area, and we are excited to deepen our roots in these great North Carolina communities,” said David Trahan, President of Conn’s Retail Division.

The core of Conn’s continued growth and success is its in-house credit program called “YES MONEY®,” which offers consumers the chance to purchase high quality goods at low monthly payments they can afford, even if they have been turned down elsewhere. The ability to make aspirational items affordable has led to more than 90 percent of surveyed customers stating that they would recommend Conn’s to family and friends.

“We take great pride in our YES MONEY® program to make high-quality products affordable to hardworking consumers,” said Trahan. “This program, coupled with our satisfying shopping experience, brings back customers time and again,” says Trahan.

The other Charlotte Conn’s HomePlus is located at 9567 South Blvd.

Customers can enter to win the $10,000 shopping spree at all Charlotte and Gastonia Conn’s HomePlus locations now through February 15, 2016.

Deepening Community Connection Through Conn’s Cares

The Company has further established its connection to Charlotte and other communities it serves through Conn’s Cares, the philanthropic program the Company launched earlier this year. Conn’s will donate more than $300,000 worth of books to deserving children through the initiative in 2015. This fall, Conn’s will donate 1,000 new books to a select Charlotte school through its partnership with nonprofit partner First Book.
