LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Citizens Communications, the telecommunications
group which operates under the Frontier brand, said first-quarter basic net
earnings per share fell 33 percent to $0.14 against $0.21 in the year-ago
quarter.
The company said revenues rose 2 percent to $569.2 million from $556.2
million.
Revenues were boosted by $62.0 million contributed by Commonwealth Telephone
Enterprises, which was acquired on March 8 2007, and Global Valley Networks,
bought on Oct. 31 2007.
Without these contributions, revenues would have declined by 2 percent, the
company said.
"Our revenue declined as a result of lower access lines, subsidy revenue and
switched access revenue, partially offset by a $12.7 million increase in data
and internet services revenue," the company said.
Total operating costs rose 12 percent to $404.9 million for the quarter from
$362.8 million.
