BEIJING--China's Ministry of Finance said Monday that it plans to issue 3 billion yuan ($457.8 million) of yuan-denominated Treasury debt in London, part of Beijing's efforts to promote the Chinese currency globally.

Bank of China Ltd., China's fourth-largest lender by assets, and HSBC Holdings PLC will be the joint global coordinators for the issuance, the ministry said. The debt will be issued soon, it said, without providing additional details about the timetable.

China's central bank issued an offshore yuan bond in London for the first time in October.
