LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Charles Taylor Consulting PLC said Fire and
Rescue Authority Mutual Ltd, a new mutual insurer managed by its consulting
company, commenced underwriting on September 1 following authorisation from the
UK Financial Services Authority.
The company said it plans to get involved in other new mutual insurers in
the public sector to add to its traditional strengths in managing mutual
insurers in the marine sector.
CEO John Rowe said mutuals for the public sector were expected to deliver
budgetary savings, and reduce the costs associated with insurance purchasing for
local authorities, whilst also maximising the financial advantage of managing
risks effectively.
