The US stock market on Tuesday witnessed its most volatile
session since mid-October. Markets ended on a negative note amid
slumping oil prices and growing chaos in Russia, represented by a massive decline of
the ruble. The NASDAQ Composite edged 1.24% lower, the Dow Jones
Industrial Average declined 0.65% and the S&P 500 fell 0.85%. A
global emerging -market selloff which started on Monday, further
pressurized Asia and the Asian
stock market on Tuesday, which ended the day in red. On the other
hand, the European Markets on December 16,
2014 closed on a positive note led by a surge in energy
shares. Further, positive data from a German analyst, an
investor sentiment ZEW survey and a fund manager survey from Bank
of America Merrill Lynch helped sustain the investor sentiment in
the European Market.
Michael B. Clauer has been
elected as Bemis Company, Inc.'s (Bemis Company) Vice President and
CFO. Prior to his new role, Clauer has served as Executive Vice
President and CFO at BWAY Corporation and has also worked with
Apogee Enterprises, Inc., Open Port Technology, Budget Group Inc.
and PepsiCo.
Blyth, Inc.'s (Blyth) PartyLite division, a leading
direct-seller of candles and candle accessories, announced a
donation of over $2.0 million in
products for children to use as holiday gifts for their parents and
teachers. PartyLite's support for NBC-TV's TODAY Show's Holiday
Gift Drive is in its ninth consecutive year with total contribution
till date surpassing $22.0 million in
product donations.
Brady Corporation (Brady) reported improved net sales for its
fiscal first quarter 2015. The said improvements were result of
organic sales growth of 2.4% in both the ID Solutions segment (IDS)
and the Workplace Safety segment (WPS) along with a negative
currency impact of 1.5%.
Retailer of used cars, CarMax Inc. (CarMax), announced the
promotion of Jon Daniels to Senior
Vice President for CarMax Auto Finance (CAF). Daniels succeeds
Angie Chattin, who is retiring and
will work in a consulting capacity to ensure a smooth transition.
The Company will release its sales and earnings for third quarter
of fiscal 2015, on December 19,
2014.
Checkpoint Systems, Inc. (Checkpoint Systems) has donated over
650,000 Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags to the Herff
College of Engineering's Automatic Identification (AutoID)
Laboratory at the University of
Memphis.
