LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Centaur Media, owner of Marketing Week and The
Lawyer magazines, is calling in advisers to carry out a strategic review that
could lead to a management bid to take the company private, the Sunday Times
reported, citing sources.
JP Morgan Cazenove is in pole position to be appointed after a beauty parade
instigated by chairman and founder Graham Sherren, the paper said.
He is unhappy at the performance of Centaur's shares, the paper added.
The shares peaked at 155 pence a year ago but had fallen to 82p on Friday on
fears of recession, valuing the business at only 118 mln stg, the Sunday Times
also said. It added that Centaur relies more heavily on recruitment advertising
than some of its rivals.
