SAN FRANCISCO (Thomson Financial) - Cell Genesys late Thursday reported a
fourth-quarter net loss of $33.4 million, or 43 cents a share, compared with a
net loss of $30.3 million, or 54 cents a share, last year.
The mean estimate of analysts polled by Thomson Financial was for a
per-share loss of 44 cents.
The South San Francisco, Calif.-based biotechnology company said revenue in
the quarter ended Dec. 31 was $102,000, versus $90,000 a year ago, while
research and development costs totaled $28.5 million, up from $24.6 million last
year.
As of Dec. 31, 2007, Cell Genesys had $147.3 million in cash, cash
equivalents and short-term investments.
The company's shares closed at $2.40.
