NEW YORK (Thomson Financial) - Cal-Maine Foods Inc. Friday said
second-quarter net income was $40.2 million, or $1.70 a share, a rise from the
year-ago period's net income of $6.4 million, or 27 cents a share.
Revenue for the Jackson, Miss.-based egg vendor rose to $223.7 million from
the $137.7 million reported last year.
Cal-Maine said it expects continuing high feed costs, as well as additional
price pressures resulting from the high demand for corn for ethanol use.
Shares of Cal-Maine closed Thursday at $25.85.
