SAN FRANCISCO (Thomson Financial) - Cadence Design Systems Inc. late
Wednesday reported third-quarter adjusted earnings of $97 million, or 33 cents a
share, up from $81 million, or 26 cents a share, in the year-ago period.
The company posted net income of $72.7 million, or 24 cents a share, up from
$42.1 million, or 14 cents a share, last year, as revenue climbed 9% to $400.9
million.
Analysts polled by Thomson Financial, were expecting, on average, a
per-share profit of 32 cents on revenue of $401 million.
The San Jose, Calif.-based software company forecast fourth-quarter earnings
of 34 cents to 36 cents, or 45 cents to 47 cents a share excluding items, on
revenue of $465 million to $475 million.
Analysts are looking for a per-share profit of 46 cents on sales of $468
million.
