NEW YORK (Thomson Financial) - Tennant Co. reported Tuesday third-quarter
earnings of $11 million, or 57 cents a share, compared with $7.9 million, or 42
cents a share, a year earlier,
Earnings in the latest quarter included a cumulative gain of 13 cents a
share from restructuring charges and a tax benefit.
The mean estimates of analysts polled by Thomson Financial were for earnings
of 46 cents a share.
Sales for the quarter ended Sept. 30 rose to $161.3 million from $145.7
million. The 2 analysts surveyed by Thomson Financial had both expected revenue
of $158 million.
The Minneapolis-based designer and marketer of cleaning solutions raised its
outlook for full-year profit by 10 cents a share. It now sees earnings of $1.88
to $1.96 a share. Management attributed the increase to a greater net tax
benefit than previously announced.
Analysts polled by Thomson Financial forecast earnings of $1.85 a share for
the year, on average.
