(Corrects study stage to Phase IIIb)
NEW YORK (Thomson Financial) - Par Pharmaceutical Co.'s Strativa unit
Thursday said its drug Onconase didn't meet the primary endpoint of survival in
unresectable malignant mesothelioma (UMM) in a Phase IIIb trial.
There was a statistically significant improvement in survival in the
treatment of UMM patients who had previously failed one chemotherapy regimen.
Strativa said the results were reported by Alfacell Corp., its development
partner.
Shares of Par Pharmaceutical closed Wednesday at $18.27 while Alfacell
shares closed at $1.7.
