The Competition Commission, or CC, said Friday it has formally cancelled its inquiry concerning the anticipated acquisition by Dorf Ketal Chemicals AG of the titanate and zirconate business of Johnson Matthey PLC (JMAT.LN).

MAIN FACTS:

-CC has received assurances from the parties that the proposed acquisition has been abandoned.

-Johnson Matthey shares closed Thursday at 1916 pence valuing the company at GBP4.11 billion.
