Online leader Business.com ranks amongst the best employers in Los Angeles for the second consecutive year.
SANTA MONICA, Calif., Aug. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Business.com, the leading business search engine, directory and pay-per-click advertising network, today announced that it has been named to the Los Angeles Business Journal's prestigious list of Best Places to Work in Los Angeles. The list is made up of 70 companies split into three groups: 5 small-sized companies (15-24 employees), 50 medium-sized companies (25-249 employees) and 15 large-sized companies (250 or more employees). Business.com has been named one of the Best Places to Work in LA in the medium-sized company category.
The 2008 rankings were determined by evaluating each nominated company on several aspects of corporate culture including work environment, training, development, communications, leadership, planning, pay and benefits. Another critical factor in narrowing down this year's finalists was an anonymous employee survey used to measure overall experience and satisfaction. Best Companies Group, a professional firm located in Harrisburg, PA, managed the overall registration and survey process and also analyzed the data to determine the final rankings.
"Since our company was founded in 1999, we've maintained the highest recruiting standards and we have focused on building a work environment where every employee knows their efforts make a valuable impact," said Rob Feinstein, VP and GM of Business.com. "This combination of clear goals, personal responsibility and rewarding achievement, mixed with diverse co-workers and a healthy dose of fun, is our winning recipe." Earlier this year, Business.com also received the Green Business Certification (GBC) from the city of Santa Monica. In 2006, about a dozen Business.com employees assembled a 'Corporate Green Team.' They partnered with the city and the office building's management to introduce over sixty environmentally sustainable practices into the Business.com corporate culture.
Their initiatives ranged from small (replacing incandescent lights with compact fluorescents) to major (creating an in-house water filtration system.) The company also initiated a rideshare program, office-wide recycling program and weekly donations to both the Santa Monica West Side Food Bank and Saint John's Health Center.
"Receiving our Green Business Certification demonstrates two core principles of Business.com: our commitment to corporate social responsibility, and the ability of passionate employees to make a difference," said Feinstein, who was recently named by BtoB Magazine to their annual "Who's Who in B-to-B" list.
