AURORA, Colo. and BILLINGS, Mont., Feb.
21, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Billings Clinic, Montana's leader in pediatric specialty care,
and Children's Hospital Colorado (Children's Colorado), one of the nation's top 10
children's hospitals, today announced they have formed a care
alliance to provide children and their families with the highest
level of coordinated medical care as close to home as possible.
This alliance streamlines the coordination of care between the two
organizations to ensure the right care at the right time at the
right location.
"We have a long standing partnership with Children's Hospital
Colorado given their impeccable reputation for innovation,
research, and compassionate sub-specialty pediatric care," said Dr.
Michelle Pierson, Chair of
Pediatrics at Billings Clinic. "The care alliance gives us the
opportunity to strengthen that partnership with one of the leading
quaternary hospitals in the country and tap into their expertise at
a higher level, giving our pediatricians and pediatric specialists
new tools to provide care for children and adolescents with complex
conditions right here at home."
"Children's Colorado is proud
to partner with Billings Clinic in this care alliance. The
pediatric expertise of Children's Colorado complements an already rich balance
of pediatric specialists, many of whom trained at Children's
Colorado," said Gil Peri, Chief Strategy Officer for Children's
Colorado. "Our collective goal is
to support the pediatric care providers at Billings Clinic and
streamline the coordination of care when a patient needs care that
can't be provided in the local community."
As part of the care alliance, designated physician and
administrative liaisons from Children's Colorado perinatology, neonatology, and
pediatric specialty care visit Billings each quarter for case reviews,
protocol enhancement and training. The care alliance also includes
collaboration via telemedicine to allow for sharing of expertise
without the need for travel. Children's Colorado also assists Billings Clinic through
the care alliance in providing education across the pediatric care
team, including physicians, nurses and other health
professionals.
The care alliance includes Billings Clinic and their regional
affiliates in Montana and northern
Wyoming. Billings Clinic has the
largest pediatric primary care clinic in Montana; a Level III neonatal intensive care
unit; as well as pediatric specialists in cardiology, neurology,
pulmonology, endocrinology, oncology/hematology, and
urology.
Children's Colorado has a long
history of partnering with community hospitals to provide pediatric
care close to home and believes children across the western
United States should be able to
benefit from the knowledge and experience of its pediatric
experts.
