The restaurant will undergo an "extreme makeover" giving it a contemporary Japanese look and feel as part of a corporate multi-million dollar conversion. Construction on the Torrance Benihana will begin immediately and is expected to take several months to complete.
The new design will evoke a creative atmosphere enabling guests to experience the modernization of the Benihana brand as soon as they walk through the entrance. "The Next Benihana" brings the company to its original roots of Chikara, or power and energy. The fresh look includes: Waiting Area - A dramatic oversized waiting area entrance gives guests a staged
overview of Benihana. - A curved stone wall anchored by the Benihana family crest serves as a
backdrop for the hostess. - A banded window gives guests a glimpse as to what is happening in the
bar behind the wall.
The Lounge - On the far side is an eye catching pattern that crosses a bold red
mural. - A new, expanded Sake menu highlights a great selection typically
available only in Japan.
The Dining Areas feature: - The 'Spirits' dining area with ambient lighting. - The 'Energy' dining area showcasing 'Intensity of Nature.'
- A translucent backdrop where the chefs prepare the food. - A Kanji backdrop behind each Teppanyaki table. - An expanded sushi menu.
