LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Mining and metal engineer Bateman Engineering
N.V. said its International Projects subsidiary has won a $31 million contract
from Southern Urals Nickel Plant OAO, a subsidiary of Mechel OAO, to design and
supply a 12 MW DC furnace.
The company said the furnace will be erected at Southern Urals Nickel's
existing facility in the Russian city of Orsk.
It said the contract will be undertaken on a fixed price and against a
defined scope of work for small-scale industrial furnace complex equipment for
the production of ferronickel.
Bateman Engineering said the contract will include the provision of a basic
engineering package for the entire process plant and detailed design and supply
of the core technology equipment for the 12 MW DC furnace.
Work is expected to commence shortly and the project is due to be completed
by the end of 2009, the company added.
