FRANKFURT-- BMW AG on Tuesday shook up the structure of its management and supervisory boards, appointing a new chief executive and management board member, while the company's current chief executive is moving to lead the supervisory board.

Harald Krueger, currently head of the car maker's production division, will step in as the new chief executive, starting in May after the company's annual general meeting.

The current chief executive, Norbert Reithofer, will become chairman of the supervisory board, succeeding Joachim Milberg, BMW said.

Klaus Fröhlich will also immediately join the management board, in charge of the company's development.
