In an effort to increase safety and enhance efficiency for clinicians,
B. Braun Medical Inc. will launch three new products and highlight its
comprehensive portfolio of healthcare solutions at The American
Association of Critical-Care Nurses’ (AACN)
National Teaching Institute & Critical Care Exhibition being held May
6-8 in Chicago (Booth #3246).
“We’re excited to
bring three new products to market at this year’s
AACN conference,” said Gale White, Vice
President of Infusion Systems for B. Braun Medical Inc. “From
safety infusion pumps to pain management systems, B. Braun’s
products aim to serve healthcare facilities in such a way that they can
provide clinicians with the most effective practices and patients with
the safest care. Our ability to translate customers’
needs into quality products that are reliable and easy-to-use is
evidenced by the enhanced capabilities offered by the products we’re
showcasing at AACN.”
B. Braun will launch its next generation of IV safety infusion systems,
including its SPACE and Outlook®
ES Safety Infusion Systems, as well as the Curlin 6000 CMSTM
Ambulatory Infusion System at the show. SPACE, an infusion pump system
designed with both adult and pediatric facilities in mind, allows for
flexibility and easy transport within a number of care settings. The
newest member of B. Braun’s award-winning1
Outlook® Safety
Infusion System, the Outlook®
ES features several advanced options to improve ease-of-use among
clinicians. The Curlin 6000 CMSTM, an upgrade
of the CurlinTM Pain Management System, comes
equipped with Information On Demand (IOD) technology and possesses
easy-to-use, flexible, syringes, bags or bottles with the pumps.
“Beyond just providing quality products, B.
Braun works with its customers to optimize product use,”
adds White. “In addition to initial
implementation, we continually help our customers analyze smart pump
data. By reviewing the drug library, time-of-day trends, drug types,
established limits, etc., we can provide ongoing support to improve
practices.”
Demonstrating how B. Braun’s safety solutions
are integrated within real-world scenarios, B. Braun will host two
customer in-booth presentations.
Complementing B. Braun’s launch of its
advanced IV safety infusion pump systems, customers Susan Seiberlich,
MA, RN, CCRN and Linda Sharp, RN, CCRN, both of St. Francis Hospital in
Roslyn, N.Y. will present “Implementing Smart
Pumps the Smart Way” in B. Braun’s
booth on Tuesday May 6, 10:30-11:00 a.m. and 1:00-1:30 p.m. and
Wednesday May 7, 11:30-12:00 p.m. CST. Focusing on how the
standardization of infusion delivery reduces the risk of medication
errors, Seiberlich and Sharp will analyze the success of B. Braun’s
smart pump implementation at their hospital, which uses a custom library.
Tying into AACN’s focus on how healthcare
systems are driven by the needs of patients and families, Anne Pohlman,
APN-CNS, CCRN, FCCM of the University of Chicago will address how
improving sedation standards and applying innovative evidence-based
practice strategies is a priority issue. The session, “Spotlight
on Sedation: Implementing the ‘Wake Up and
Breathe’ Interventions”
occurring on Tuesday May 6, 11:30-12:00 p.m. and Wednesday May 7,
10:30-11:00 a.m. and 1:00-1:30 p.m. CST, proposes a new challenge to the
multidisciplinary critical care team to employ research driven
interventions.
