Axios Celebrates Global First for BS15000 Certification

LONDON, March 2 /PRNewswire/ --

International software firm Axios Systems (http://www.axiossystems.com/) has become the first organisation in the world to achieve accreditation for BS15000, thenew standard specifically aimed at IT Service Management (ITSM). Axios' accreditation, which initially covers the IT department, was immediately applauded by the IT Service Management Forum (itSMF) which established the standard to promote adoption ofan integrated set of processes for the effective management and delivery of quality IT services to meet business and customer needs.

BS15000 is the first worldwide standard specifically aimed at ITSM and is based on the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL), the internationally accepted Best Practice framework. The certification scheme was launched last year to provide independent verification against this standard.

"We are extremely proud to be the first organisation in the world to successfully gain certification from the itSMF," said Tasos Symeonides, Managing Director of Axios Systems. "This affirms our commitment to Best Practice in IT Service Management and is a clear demonstration that we practice what we preach."

The certificate is valid for three years, with adherence to be reviewed every six months. Colin Rudd, Chair of the itSMF's BS15000 Certification Committee, commented: "The standard is very demanding in its requirements of IT service providers. It is incredible that Axios has been able to demonstrate such a high level of process maturity so soon. This far exceeds our expectation and we hope many other organisations will follow its excellent example."

He went on: "Although the standard and scheme have been developed in Britain, attention is not confined to there. Enthusiasm is global with organisations in India, Australia, the USA and the Far East also actively working towards the standard and certification. This is a major accomplishment for Axios and demonstrates its commitment to service quality."

The itSMF, an independent, not for profit organisation, is the leading player in the Service Management industry and represents thousands of organisations worldwide. It has chapters in most major European countries, the USA, Japan, Canada, Australia and South Africa. One of their main aims is to support and influence the development of best practice standards and guidelines for IT service management, such as the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL)

The BS15000 standard is creating considerable international interest in the IT Service Management field. Industry analysts Gartner predict a bright future for end-user enterprises. According to Simon Mingay, Research VP at Gartner, "The standard provides a baseline against which the internal IS organisation can demonstrate to the business that its service delivery processes represent best practice and are performing well."

The international importance of BS15000 cannot be underestimated, Mingay stated.

"It is likely that BS15000 will be put forward to the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) for it to become an ISO standard in its own right or as part of ISO 9001," he added.

Axios said a key to its success was use of assyst, its core software solution, which provided the auditors with data which helped prove the company's adherence to the standard in Edinburgh. assyst supports all IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) disciplines in a single, integrated out-of-the- box product.
