Channel Chief honorees are selected by CRN’s editorial staff on
the basis of their professional achievements, standing in the
industry, dedication to the channel partner community, and
strategies for driving future growth and innovation. Each of the
2017 Channel Chiefs has demonstrated loyalty and ongoing support
for the IT channel by consistently promoting, defending and
executing outstanding channel partner programs. Bawol and Farache
were selected for inclusion based on their track record of channel
accomplishments, standing in the industry, dedication to the
partner community, and plans for driving future business innovation
and channel growth.
“Jeff and Sergio’s leadership embodies Avnet’s focus on helping
partners successfully transform their businesses to address
customers’ evolving needs as the market has shifted to
next-generation technologies,” said Patrick Zammit, global
president of Avnet Technology Solutions. “In a year of significant
change within the channel, both Jeff and Sergio led their teams in
introducing Avnet’s new solutions specialist approach to our
partners and suppliers throughout the Americas. Jeff and Sergio are
at the forefront of enabling our partners’ success by ensuring they
have the specialized expertise needed to capitalize on high-growth
opportunities related to big data and analytics, the cloud,
converged infrastructure, IoT, mobility, security, the public
sector and more. Their inclusion on CRN’s list of Channel Chiefs is
a well-deserved recognition of their accomplishments.”
Honored for the sixth time as a CRN Channel Chief, Bawol was
recognized for his role in helping suppliers and partners expand
their businesses, while capitalizing on technology growth markets
and services. In 2016, Bawol and his team led the America’s
implementation of Avnet’s solutions specialist approach, which
empowers Avnet partners to capitalize on cloud, cognitive
computing, data analytics, data center, IoT, mobility, security and
enterprise networking, and training and education. Also, Bawol and
his team championed a first-of-its-kind collaboration with IBM to
accelerate partners’ success in IoT and simplify the development
cycle at every stage of an IoT solution.
Farache was honored for his leadership of the conceptualization
and execution of Avnet’s new solutions specialist approach and
continued expansion of the offerings from Avnet’s digital platform,
the Avnet Cloud Marketplace. In addition, Farache and his team
launched different specialized solutions programs to accelerate
partner success in areas like the software-defined data center,
security, analytics and mobility, and they were instrumental in
expanding Avnet’s overall vertical industry focus, as well as the
robust growth of Avnet’s IoT and security solutions businesses.
“The executives on our 2017 Channel Chiefs list have
distinguished themselves by building strong partner programs,
developing and executing effective business strategy, and helping
to advance the channel as a whole,” said Bob Faletra, CEO of The
Channel Company. “They represent an extraordinary group of
individuals who lead by example, and serve as both invaluable
advocates and innovators of the IT channel. We applaud their
achievements and look forward to their successes in the coming
year.”
