The Australian dollar strengthened against the other major currencies in the Asian session on Thursday.

The Australian dollar rose to 1.4126 against the euro for the first time since January 28. At yesterday's close, the aussie was trading at 1.4168 against the euro.

The aussie advanced to a 2-day high of 1.0361 against the NZ dollar, from an early record low of 1.0282.

Against the U.S. and the Canadian dollars, the aussie edged up to 0.7839 and 0.9739 from yesterday's closing quotes of 0.7816 and 0.9700, respectively.

Against the yen, the aussie edged up to 93.88 from yesterday's closing value of 93.54.

If the aussie extends its uptrend, it is likely to find resistance around 1.39 against the euro, 1.05 against the kiwi, 0.81 against the greenback, 0.99 against the loonie and 97.48 against the yen.
