Arrow Electronics’ (NYSE: ARW) Denver-based global business-operations team joined forces with the nonprofit organization Wish for Wheels recently to build bikes for low-income children, just in time for the start of the new school year.

Wish for Wheels provides brand-new bicycles and helmets to kids who otherwise could not afford them, helping to broaden their opportunities for personal growth and a healthy lifestyle. The nonprofit’s unique model bundles corporate philanthropy, team building and employee engagements through collaborative bike builds.

“Finding creative ways to build our team and our relationships with our community is an important part of who we are here at Arrow. This bike build was a fun way to work together and ‘pay it forward’ at the same time,” said Arrow’s Vice President of Global Business Operations Mary Beth Edwards, who organized the event for her team.

In addition to the bike build, Arrow provided a financial match to Wish for Wheels for the team’s volunteer efforts through the Arrow Charitable “Dollars for Doers” program.

Arrow employees from around the world regularly work with local nonprofits, extending the company’s collaborative and innovative culture into the broader communities where they live and work.
