Arrow Electronics, Inc. (NYSE:ARW), today announced an alliance with DSA Encore to address increased customer demand for a single-source supplier for data-center and converged-infrastructure products and services.

Through the agreement, DSA will be available to customers of Arrow’s S3 business, as well as to solution providers supported by Arrow’s North American enterprise computing solutions segment. Arrow’s S3 business provides systems integration for business-transforming communication, collaboration and ongoing services solutions to large and midsize businesses. Arrow’s enterprise computing solutions segment provides leading-edge technology, services and support to IT solution providers.

“With the explosion of cloud services, BYOD (bring-your-own-device), Big Data and social media, clients are looking to their suppliers for support with helping them decide on the right technology infrastructure and, as importantly, the management of those platforms,” said Dr. Jeff Reed, chief technology officer for Arrow’s S3 business. “In parallel, the need for new technology has driven increased activity in data center and colocation decisions.” Recognizing that need, Arrow’s S3 business created a center of excellence focused on converged infrastructure and managed services, and its alliances with DSA and other data-center and colocation companies are part of the center of excellence.

“We see the acceleration of technology increasing at an exponential rate. From the telephone to the PC, to the Internet, to the smart phone, we have witnessed mass adoption rates drop from decades, to a few years,” said Mark Schneider, president of DSA. “In addition, the ongoing movement toward virtualization and cloud services has caused customers to take a second look at their current data center and colocation environments, as to whether to expand, contract or consolidate those facilities.”

Schneider continued, “Working with a full-service technology provider like Arrow further enables DSA to provide a complete data-center and unified-computing lifecycle solution.”

To kick-off the agreement, Arrow and DSA are hosting a webinar on July 10, at 10 a.m. CT entitled, “The future of your data center (where will your technology infrastructure reside next year?).” The webinar will be hosted by Reed and Schneider. This will be the first of a series of educational sessions. Future topics will include cloud considerations (private, public, or hybrid), OpenStack, Big Data, and BYOD.
