John Philip Madden, as non-executive Director.
Born: 23rd April 1938 Qualifications: MA, LIB (Cambridge University) Barrister-at-Law (Gray's Inn, called 1963) Securities and Futures Authority (SFA)- registered corporate finance adviser Career Summary:
1962-69 Lawyer and Company Secretary in industry - Philips
Industries.
1969-81 City merchant banking. Director of, first, Arbuthnot
Latham, and then N.M.Rothschild, including a two year secondment
to the Take-over Panel.
1982-91 Regional merchant banking, first in Norwich, and then
founded and was Group Chief Executive of, the Cambridge Capital
Group, comprising corporate finance, development capital, and
university technology transfer.
1991-94 Sold out of Cambridge Capital and took on a number of
semi-executive directorships ( two quoted and three private) and
consultancies, including involvement in a successful biotech full
list float.
1994-96 Consultant with, and then employed by, Barings
providing corporate finance services to small and medium sized
companies in the UK and Europe. This resulted in a close
involvement in the creation of pan-European stock exchange EASDAQ.
1996-97 The Barings work was subsumed into Quartz Capital
Partners Limited, of which FJPM was a founder director, which
specialised in flotations on EASDAQ.
Mr Madden is a director of Aortech International plc, currently a #300 million
AIM quoted company which develops, manufactures and markets internationally a
range of cardiac and vascular implantable devices and related surgical,
diagnostic and monitoring equipment. He is also a consultant with ARM
Corporate Finance Limited which specialises in advising technology based
companies, notably Biofocus, Text 100 and Motion Media.
In the last 5 years Mr Madden has been or is a director or a partner of the
