Applications Now Available for 2005 Talbots Women's Scholarship Fund Alfre Woodard, Carol Higgins Clark, Gabrielle Reece, Jacque Reid, Judith Regan and Sheryl Swoopes to Serve on 2005 Board of Judges

HINGHAM, Mass., Oct. 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Applications for the 2005 Talbots Women's Scholarship Fund are now available in all Talbots U.S. stores and online at http://www.talbots.com/. Sponsored by the Talbots Charitable Foundation, this unique $100,000 scholarship program annually awards five $10,000 scholarships and fifty $1,000 scholarships to women seeking a bachelor's or associate's degree later in life. Since its inception in 1997, the Talbots Women's Scholarship Fund has awarded college scholarships to 385 women ranging in age from their late 20's to their early 60's.

The 2005 Board of Judges selecting the five $10,000 scholarship recipients includes: Alfre Woodard, award-winning television and motion picture actress and producer; Carol Higgins Clark, best-selling author and actress; Gabrielle Reece, sportswoman, television host and writer; Jacque Reid, anchor, BET Nightly News; Judith Regan, president and publisher, Regan Media, and television and film producer; and Sheryl Swoopes, four-time WNBA champion- Houston Comets, three-time Olympic gold medallist and author.

To be eligible, applicants must be women currently residing in the United States who earned a high school diploma or GED at least 10 years ago; be seeking a degree from an accredited 2- or 4-year college, university or vocational-technical school; and have at least two full-time semesters or 24 credits remaining to complete their undergraduate degree. The postmark deadline for entries is January 3, 2005, or until 1,000 eligible applications have been received, whichever is earlier.
