BOSTON (Thomson Financial) - Apple Inc. said it sold its one millionth
iPhone 3G on Sunday, three days after the launch of the new smartphone.
"It took 74 days to sell the first one million original iPhones, so the new
iPhone 3G is clearly off to a great start around the world," Apple CEO Steve
Jobs said.
The Cupertino, Calif.-based company also said iPhone and iPod touch users
have downloaded more than 10 million applications from its new App Store since
its launch late last week. The mobile applications range from games to
location-based social networking to medical applications to enterprise
productivity tools.
Shares of Apple rose 4% in premarket trades to $172.58.
