- Feihe Quality Control Passes Recent Government Inspections -
BEIJING, Sept. 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- American Dairy, Inc. (NYSE:ADY), one of the leading producers and distributors of premium infant formula, milk powder and soybean, rice and walnut products in China, today announced its continued commitment to quality and safety first and continuance of strict operational improvements in light of the unfortunate events involving infant formula products in China. This commitment was reinforced by the fact that, after government regulator inspection, American Dairy was not named as one of the 22 enterprises with traces of melamine in their products. The Company also passed all aspects of quality control inspections instigated by the recent melamine crises reported in China.
Mr. Leng You Bin, Chief Executive Officer, states, "Feihe is a nationally established and trusted premium brand in China and we expect that Chinese consumers will continue to seek our brand for quality and consistency. We understand the great responsibility that comes with manufacturing products for children and we take our role very seriously. We are in a unique time in our industry where demand for our products are increasing and are committed to continuously enforcing our strict adherence to quality." The Company remains fully committed to maintaining its high operational standards and quality assurance practices. Its shift towards premium quality products since 2001 and the construction of modern dairy farms which meet international standards demonstrate its commitment to ensuring that quality products and safety controls start from the sourcing of the raw materials. American Dairy was the first infant formula company to build dairy farms.
Mr. Jonathan Chou, Chief Financial Officer, states, "We remain committed to satisfying our vision of quality first for infant milk products as well as other nutritional products. This is in line with the company's integrated strategy with dairy farms with Holstein dairy cows in Kedong and Gannan County of Heilongjiang Province which are built according to international standards. I want to ensure that there is not only greater transparency to our shareholders, but we must make sure that there is transparency to our consumers as well." World Class Standards and Processes and State of the Art Technology American Dairy's facilities are all built according to international GMP designs with GMP certifications. Since 2000, the Company has been successively certified by ISO 9002 and HACCP. Feihe Dairy, American Dairy's flagship operating company, was also one of the first dairy enterprises to receive QS Certifications for quality by the Chinese administration. The construction of these facilities strictly follows the principle of the "three superiors:" Superior Equipment, Superior Engineering Design, and Superior Techniques, to ensure that we meet or exceed the international requirements of Good Manufacturing Practices.
Our production facilities meet international standards with equipment from the GEA Group in Europe, Rovema in Germany, and Bossa in Spain. American Dairy uses whole-sealing and mechanized vacuum milk pressing devices made by GM (Holland) with freezing equipments for each milk station which can reduce the temperature of raw milk to 4 degrees Celsius within minutes for storage. There is no external air contact in the whole process from the collection of the raw milk to the manufacturing of the final product.
Aside from manufacturing equipment imported from Denmark, automated processes and scientific parameters are set up throughout the manufacturing process to ensure all the products are able to reach preset indicators for quality. Our first class labs take in-line sampling to supervise the products' ingredients to verify the quality and safety of the entire production process. Strict supervision on raw materials and testing and inspection at all stages ensure that the final products are safe for consumption.
Top Ten Brand American Dairy conducts operations in China through its wholly owned subsidiary, Feihe Dairy, and sells under the brand Feihe. Feihe is one of China's most recognizable brands and has won awards for being one of China's "Top Brands" and China's "Well Known Trademarks." In 2007, Feihe was named one of the "Top Ten Best Infant Formula" and the "Most Energetic Brand" at the Annual Baby and Infant Industry Ceremony hosted by SINA Corporation. The Baby and Infant Industry Ceremony is one of the largest annual events in the industry and awards companies involved in all aspects of infant care, ranging from infant formula producers to baby food and clothing manufacturers. Participating companies are evaluated by a group of industry experts and the public, who votes on the Internet. Nominating companies go through a three-stage elimination process, and receive awards based on their achievements during the year.
As previously announced, Feihe Dairy was named "National Leading Enterprise of Agricultural Industrialization" by China's Ministry of Agriculture, National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Commerce, The People's Bank of China, State Administration of Taxation, China Securities Regulatory Commission and the China Supply and Marketing Cooperative for specializing in agricultural production and processing. At present, only 580 enterprises in China have been awarded this certificate. American Dairy was awarded the certificate due to its size and contribution to China's agricultural industry.
