Voss and de Cárdenas to Executive Vice President

American Campus Communities, Inc. (NYSE:ACC), the nation’s largest owner and manager of high-quality student housing properties, announced today that Kim Voss and Jorge de Cárdenas have each been promoted to the position of executive vice president.

As the executive vice president and controller, Voss will continue to oversee the company’s accounting and financial reporting functions, including SEC reporting, technical accounting, internal controls, and financial systems implementation. Voss joined American Campus in 2004 to help lead the accounting department through the company’s initial public offering and transition to a publicly traded company. Prior to joining the company, she was an assistant controller with AMB Property Corporation (now Prologis) in San Francisco. She began her career as an auditor with Arthur Andersen LLP in San Francisco, where her client base consisted primarily of REITs and other real estate entities. A Certified Public Accountant, Voss holds Bachelor of Business Administration and Master in Professional Accounting degrees from the University of Texas at Austin.

As the executive vice president and chief technology officer, de Cárdenas will continue to oversee all aspects of the company’s information technology functions, in addition to providing strategic direction for the development of American Campus’ next generation technology systems. He joined American Campus in 2004 as vice president of information technology (IT). Prior to joining ACC, he served as director of product management for emerging technologies at Visa where he was responsible for defining product strategies and delivering application services to a global market. de Cárdenas began his career developing software for NASA at Lockheed Engineering and Science. He was also co-founder and principal consultant of Everest Technologies, Inc., an Oil & Gas IT consulting firm which was sold to SAIC, Inc. de Cárdenas received a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with specializations in Mathematics and Management from Texas A&M University.
