Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN) is developing a smartphone that would compete with Apple Inc.'s (AAPL) iPhone, Bloomberg News reported Friday on its website, citing two unnamed people with knowledge of the matter.
The people said the phone would also compete with handheld devices that run Google Inc.'s (GOOG) Android operating system, the report said.
One of the people said Foxconn International Holdings Ltd. (2038.HK) of China is working with Amazon on the device, the report said.
It said Drew Herdener, a spokesman for Amazon, declined to comment.
