Philippe Mellier, President of Alstom’s
Transport Sector and Executive Vice-President of the Alstom group
(Paris:ALO), has reorganised the senior management structure of Alstom
Transport.
Gérard Blanc, 60, Chief Operating Officer and Senior
Vice-President of Operations, has decided to exercise his right to
retire as of 31 October 2008. In recent years, Gérard Blanc successfully
carried out the deep-seated industrial and technical restructuring of
Alstom Transport. After his departure, he will continue to act as a
special adviser to Philippe Mellier.
Following the departure of Gérard Blanc, Philippe Mellier has decided to
reorganise operations into two separate groups in order to better adapt
the Transport Sector to ongoing changes in the rail market.
Thierry Best, 49, has been appointed Senior Vice-President of
Operations for Rolling Stock & Components. Thierry Best was formerly
Senior Vice-President of Project Management.
Emilio Gallocchio, 60, has been appointed Senior Vice-President
of Operations for Signalling, Maintenance and Services, and Integrated
and Global Transport Solutions. Emilio Gallocchio was previously Senior
Vice-President for Southern Europe.
These appointments will be effective from 1 November 2008.
In addition, Alberto Pedrosa, 54, has been appointed Senior
Vice-President of Project Management, with effect from 1 October 2008,
replacing Thierry Best. Alberto Pedrosa was previously Senior
Vice-President of Rolling Stock, reporting to Gérard Blanc.
Marc Chatelard, 58, has been appointed Senior Vice-President for
the Southern Europe Region, with effect from 1 October 2008, replacing
Emilio Gallochio. Marc Châtelard was previously Senior Vice-President
for the Asia-Pacific Region.
Dominique Pouliquen, 49, has been appointed Senior Vice-President
for the Asia-Pacific Region, with effect from 1 January 2009, replacing
Marc Châtelard. He was previously Senior Vice-President of Train Life
Solutions; the new head will be appointed at a later date.

Gérard Blanc is a graduate of the Ecole Supérieure d’Electricité
and has a doctorate in physics. After being Managing Director of Mors
from 1987 to 1993, he moved to Gec Alsthom where he managed first the
rail and then the signalling business lines. In February 2000, he became
Deputy Vice-President of Alstom Transport, responsible for equipment,
locomotives, information solutions and the technology, quality,
procurement and strategy functions. In 2002, he was appointed Deputy
Chief Operating Officer of Alstom Transport and Senior Vice-President of
Alstom Technologies.
Thierry Best graduated from the Institut d'Etudes Politiques
in Paris and the Ecole Nationale d'Administration. He began his career
at the Ministry of Finance in the Department of Foreign Economic
Relations and was successively Commercial Advisor in the French
Embassies in Madrid (1989), Buenos Aires (1991) and London (1995). He
joined Alstom Transport in 1998 as Sales Manager for Israel, Egypt and
South Africa. In 1999, he became Senior Vice-President in China in 2003,
Vice-President of the metro systems product line in 2004, and
Vice-President for France. In 2007, Thierry was named Vice-President of
Project Management with Alstom Transport.
Emilio Gallocchio began his career in 1971 at Wabco
Westinghouse and was appointed Sales Manager in 1985. In 1988, after
Westinghouse Wabco was acquired by Ansaldo, he became Sales Manager for
Ansaldo Trasporti. In 1994, he joined Sasib as CEO of International
Operations and President of Sasib’s Chinese
branch. In 1998, when Alstom acquired Sasib, he was appointed Director
of Export Sales at Alstom Signalling in Paris. In 1999, he became
Vice-President of Alstom Signalling in Italy and then Chief Executive
Office and President of Alstom Transport Italy. In 2006, he became
Senior Vice-President for the Southern Europe Region.
Marc Chatelard is an engineer educated at the Lausanne Ecole
Polytechnique Fédérale and has an MBA from the Centre for Business
Training. He began his career at the Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) in
1973 as Chief Engineer, before joining Framatome ANP until 1990,
followed by Transmanche Link (the builder of the Channel Tunnel) and
Spie Batignolles. He joined Alstom Transport in 1997 as Director of TGV
Systems Projects and headed TGV projects in Taiwan and South Korea.
After being President of Alstom's subsidiaries in South Korea from 2000
to 2004, he became Senior Vice-President for the Asia-Pacific region in
2003.
Dominique Pouliquen has a Masters in economics and is a
graduate of the Paris Institut d'Etudes Politiques (Sciences Po). After
working as a financial analyst and consultant with responsibilities for
sales and development in the IT sector, he joined Alstom Transport in
1996. He was successively head of information systems for sales and
marketing, Regional Manager in Asia for service activities, and
International Marketing Director. In 2003, he was appointed Senior
Vice-President of Products and Strategy, and Senior Vice-President of
Maintenance and Services in 2005.
Alberto Pedrosa has a diploma from CEDEP/INSEAD. He began his
career in 1976 at Rhodia in Brazil as an engineer in the research
department. In 1985, he joined Rhône-Poulenc, where he occupied several
director's posts for chemical activities, before being named
Vice-President of worldwide pharmaceutical industrial operations of
Rhône-Poulenc Rorer. From 1999 till 2006, he was President of Rhodia
polyamide Latin America, Executive Vice President of the Group Rhodia,
in charge of purchases, energy and supply chain (2002), then
General manager of Rhodia Polyamide (2003). In 2006, he joined Alstom
transport as Senior Vice-President of Rolling Stock Operations.
