AMSTERDAM (Thomson Financial) - Akzo Nobel NV said that it has finalised
plans for its new structure ahead of the company's acquisition of Imperial
Chemical Industries, set for Jan 2.
The integrated company will operate in three units -- Decorative Paints,
Performance Coatings and Specialty Chemicals.
Under the new structure, ICI's specialty polymers and regional and
industrial operations will move to Akzo Nobel's Specialty Chemicals, while ICI's
packaging-coating operations will join Performance Coatings. ICI's deco
operations will be part of the new Decorative Paints organisation.
Decorative Paints will comprise of Decorative Paints continental Europe;
Decorative Paints Northern & Eastern Europe; Decorative Paints UK, Northern
Ireland and South Africa; Decorative Paints Asia; Decorative Paints America;
Decorative Paints Canada; and Decorative Paints Latin America.
Performance Coatings will consist of Car Refinishes; Marine & Protective
Coatings; Powder Coatings; Industrial Finishes; and Packaging Coatings.
Specialty Chemicals will be formed of Base Chemicals; Functional Chemicals;
Polymer Chemicals; Pulp & Paper Chemicals; Surfactants; Specialty Polymers; and
Regional & Industrial activities.
