New AdvanceBio Columns Improve Laboratory Workflows

Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) is showcasing innovative new technology this week designed to help scientists achieve the reproducible results they need to develop effective biopharmaceuticals.

The company is demonstrating its new line of AdvanceBio SEC columns at the 20th Symposium on the Interface of Regulatory and Analytical Sciences for Biotechnology Health Products (Twitter hashtag #WCBP2016) today through Jan. 28 at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D.C.

The new columns represent a significant advance in size-exclusion chromatography, a key technology used to quantify aggregation in biotherapeutics such as monoclonal antibodies. Quantifying aggregation is a vital factor in developing and producing safe, effective biologics.

AdvanceBio SEC columns deliver higher resolution for more accurate quantitation as well as higher sensitivity to quantitate aggregates, even at low levels.

“Through innovative design, AdvanceBio SEC columns deliver reproducible results—column to column, batch to batch and lab to lab,” said Helen Stimson, Agilent vice president and general manager of the Chemistries and Supplies Division. “Our new silica particle provides the resolution and stability to run shorter columns at higher flow rates, giving laboratories the right result in a quarter of the time.”

Stimson called the new columns an example of Agilent’s dedication to designing new technologies to meet the challenges faced by the biopharmaceutical industry.

“This product line will enable laboratories to control costs by eliminating sample rework, simplifying method transfers and improving lab productivity,” she said.

Agilent Events at WCBP 2016

Agilent will be at WCBP’s Booth No. 30. As a longtime premier sponsor of this symposium, the company is pleased to showcase several workflows for scientists working with biologics. Join on-site specialists on topics ranging from the use of 2D HPLC/MS to make the complex simple to automated platforms for sample preparation needs. Agilent will have interactive virtual instrumentation on display as well as the popular AssayMAP platform in operation.

Agilent will present two technical seminars on Wednesday, Jan. 27. Seminar One, 12:30-1 p.m.: “Higher Order mAb Aggregate Analysis Using New Innovative Size Exclusion Chromatography (SEC) Technology,” with Ron Majors, LCGC magazine.

Seminar Two, 1-1:30 p.m.: “Simplifying 2D-LC, 2D-LC/MS Automated Workflows: Fast and Efficient Multi-Dimension LC and LC/MS Method Development.” For more information and to register for these seminars, go to this link.
