HAGÅTÑA, Guam, November 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --

Aggreko plc, the leading provider of modular, mobile power and adjacent product solutions, has been commissioned to supply Guam Power Authority with a 40 MW power package in Guam for the next 12 months, as a result of a competitive tender process.

On August 31 this year, an explosion and subsequent fire broke out at the Cabras Power Plant in Piti, resulting in the shutdown of two of four power generating plants on site. In response, Guam Power Authority put out to tender a contract to supply a 40 MW power package to supplement base load power to the island's grid network.

The client cites outstanding fuel efficiency of the Aggreko's Tier II engine as a critical success factor of the winning bid. In addition to this, the flexible and modular nature of Aggreko's 1 MW generator units provides the option to scale-up and scale-down as required.

Commenting on the contract, Venkie Shantaram, Regional Director, Aggreko North Asia said: "We are delighted to be selected by the Guam Power Authority to help address this important power generation requirement.  The package we provided highlights once again Aggreko's ability to rapidly mobilise fast-track, turn-key power solutions to support our customers' needs, delivering significant fuel savings, no matter where in the world they operate."

Aggreko will be supplying a full fast-track turn-key power package comprising engineering services, transport, fuel tanks, installation, commissioning, EPA certified engines and on-site operators, and decommissioning.

In the Power Solutions business, we operate in emerging markets as a power producer. We install and operate modular, mobile power plants for both utility and industrial customers and we charge both for providing the generating capacity, and for the electricity we produce. We design and manufacture equipment specifically for these requirements in our factory in Dumbarton, Scotland.
