COLUMBUS, Ga., March 12, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Aflac, the leading provider of voluntary insurance at the work site in the United States and one of FORTUNE's 2014 Blue Ribbon companies, announced today that Aflac U.S. President Teresa White was honored by Girls Inc, at their 2015 New York Luncheon – Celebrating Women of Achievement. Teresa was recognized for her outstanding achievements and for inspiring girls to realize their full potential.

"Teresa exemplifies what it means to be a leader who, no matter the challenge, is always committed to her vision," said Judy Vredenburgh, Girls Inc. president and CEO. "She also values mentorship and giving back and is an incredible role model for girls everywhere. We are delighted to honor her."

After her promotion to president of Aflac U.S. in 2014, Ms. White became a driving force in helping CEO Dan Amos overhaul the company's sales structure, leading to a dramatic sales improvement in the fourth quarter of 2014. In addition, White also created Aflac's first-ever Career Success Center which focuses on mentoring and the career development of Aflac employees. To date, thousands of employees have utilized the center's services in areas such as resume enhancement, improving interviewing skills and identifying opportunity for growth.

"I am not surprised that an organization like Girls Inc. would honor Teresa White. She is everything we could hope for and more; inspiring so many people at Aflac to stretch their limits for success," Amos said. "She is a role model for our employees and to young people, particularly young girls, everywhere and we are proud to have her representing our company and our brand."

Teresa joined four other honorees: Heather Bresch, CEO, Mylan; Karen Dougherty Buchholz, Senior Vice President of Administration, Comcast Corporation; Carolyn Everson, Vice President, Global Marketing Solutions, Facebook; and Suna Said-Maslin, Founder and CEO, Nima Capital, LLC.
