Advance Auto Parts Names Charles Tyson Senior Vice President, Merchandising

Advance Auto Parts, Inc., (NYSE:AAP), a leading automotive aftermarket retailer of parts, batteries, accessories, and maintenance items, today announced Charles Tyson has joined the Company as Senior Vice President, Merchandising. Mr. Tyson will be responsible for providing the strategic direction and leadership for all merchandising areas serving both our DIY and Commercial customers. Mr. Tyson will report to Elwyn Murray, Executive Vice President, Customer Development Officer.

“I am excited to have Charles join the Advance Team,” said Murray. “He has an extensive 16-year background in retail merchandising and global sourcing, and his experience and leadership will be key drivers in the development and deployment of Advance’s merchandising strategy.” Prior to joining Advance, Mr. Tyson served as Senior Vice President, Merchandising and Technology with OfficeMax, Inc. for four years. Prior to joining OfficeMax, he worked for Office Depot, Inc. for four years where he held multiple positions with increasing responsibilities including Senior Vice President, Merchandising and General Merchandising Manager; Senior Vice President, World Wide Global Sourcing; and Vice President, Divisional Merchandise Manager. Mr. Tyson has also held positions previously with Caldor Corporation and Macy’s. He has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Marketing and Marketing Research from City of London Polytechnic in London, England.
