BROOKLYN, N.Y., Sept. 30, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- ADOLFO DORING's POSTED 162 GRAMS is his first
solo exhibition. It is on view at ART 3 gallery, 109 Ingraham
Street, Bushwick, Brooklyn. The
exhibition is based on Doring's conceptual book entitled:
"POSTED 162 grams", created by the artist out of images he
posted on INSTAGRAM from August 16,
2014 to September 2, 2015.
Each image was assigned a meta-data to differentiate 81 portraits
from 81 environments. The second meta-data entry assigned was the
number of likes each posted image received on the social media
platform. The artist organized the order of the resulting
compositions by flipping a coin. This database-coin flip process
created the diptychs as they appear in the book and in the
show.
Each image is exquisitely composed, lit, and presented as a
silver-gelatin print. The young women depicted in POSTED 162 GRAMS
are captured expressing a sensual yet tragic side of beauty, their
portraits and evocative stories appear randomly.
Doring has kept his passion for photography uncompromised. His
work in this show proves his deep commitment to art and its
relationship to today's social landscape.
Prior to POSTED 162 GRAMS Doring's film and installation
"COMING SOON, COMING SOON TO A THEATRE NEAR YOU" depicts the
artists' preoccupation with how banal entertainment has become a
surrogate for life experience. The installation was acquired for
the permanent collection of the Museo Laboratorio di Arte
Contemporanea in Rome,
Italy. It was originally exhibited at The White Box
Center-Armory Show in 2014, and Art 3 in May
2014.
