Acuity Brands Settles Suit Against Cooper Industries
ATLANTA, March 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Acuity Brands, Inc. announced today
that it has favorably settled the patent infringement lawsuit the Company and
its lighting segment, Acuity Brands Lighting, filed against Cooper Industries
and Cooper Lighting in November 2001.
The suit involved patents for a Lithonia Lighting emergency lighting fixture
combining the functions of an exit sign and an emergency lighting unit,
integrated into one housing onto which one or more emergency lights can be
mounted. As a resolution to this suit, Cooper agreed to pay a one-time royalty
fee for a non-exclusive right and license to continue to sell its LPXDH
combination exit and emergency lighting fixture.
