Accelrys to Integrate Sigma-Aldrich Chemical Compound Catalogs
Into Cheminformatics Database
Desktop Tool Will Connect Accelrys Chemical Searching Technologies With Online
Supplier Catalogs, Streamlines and Speeds Chemical Purchasing
SAN DIEGO, Sept. 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Accelrys, Inc. (NASDAQ:ACCL)
announced an agreement to integrate the Sigma-Aldrich (NASDAQ:SIAL) chemical
compound catalogs into Accelrys' chemical suppliers database, Chemicals
Available for Purchase (CAP). The integration of these catalogs with CAP will
provide researchers the most timely and accurate access to chemical product
information, enabling them to identify and select compounds from the world's
leading supplier, quickly and efficiently. Accelrys' CAP database is accessible
from desktop PCs, and allows researchers to retrieve commercially available
chemicals through innovative chemical search technologies.
"We're excited to be working with Sigma-Aldrich to deliver a brand new offering
to scientists. We believe our world-class search capabilities and targeted
database, matched with the leading provider of chemical compounds, will provide
our joint customers the solution that they've been asking for," said Scott
Kahn, Chief Science Officer of Accelrys. "Sigma-Aldrich is one of the most
customer-centric firms that we've partnered with to date. Our goal is to fill
a clear customer need that is not currently being met by existing chemical
database solutions." Accelrys' Chemicals Available for Purchase (CAP) database consolidates the
contents of top chemical suppliers' catalogs into a single source, allowing
access to up-to-date information quickly and easily from Windows-based PCs. CAP
eliminates the need for chemists to rely on manually searching different
suppliers' catalogs in various formats, providing an efficient method of
locating reagents and starting compounds. In addition, CAP features proven 2D
and 3D search technologies that will allow researchers to retrieve commercially
available chemicals through exact structure, substructure, and similarity
searching.
"We're partnering with Accelrys because we feel our mutual customers will be
best served by the integration of our catalog data with the Accelrys tools and
modeling capabilities," said Brad Johnson, Director of E-Business at
Sigma-Aldrich. "This relationship enables customers to have ready access to
our rich portfolio of product information directly from a cutting edge
Cheminformatics toolset that serves their needs and research goals." About Accelrys: Accelrys is a leading provider of software for computation,
