NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (AP) - Acacia Research Corp., which develops, acquires
and licenses patented technologies, said Wednesday its Financial Systems
Innovation LLC unit reached a settlement on a patent dispute with J Choo USA
Inc., provider of Jimmy Choo shoes.
Terms were not disclosed.
The lawsuit related to credit-card fraud protection technology that included
an electronic card reader and the creation and use of a transaction number that
identifies each transaction processed within the system.
The lawsuit, which involved several other businesses including Aeropostale
Inc. and Bed Bath & Beyond Inc., was filed in June with the U.S. District Court
for the Northern District of Georgia, according to a quarterly filing with the
Securities and Exchange Commission.
