BOSTON (Thomson Financial) - Abiomed Inc. Thursday reported a wider
third-quarter loss of $8.3 million, or 26 cents a share, from a year-earlier
loss of $6.7 million, or 25 cents a share.
Results for the latest quarter include a stock-based compensation expense of
4 cents a share.
The mean estimate of analysts polled by Thomson Financial was for a loss of
21 cents a share.
Revenue for the Danvers, Mass.-based provider of medical devices rose 24% to
$16 million from $12.9 million a year earlier. Analysts, on average, estimated
revenue of $15 million.
For fiscal 2008, Abiomed forecasts revenue of $58 million to $62 million, an
increase from fiscal 2007 of about 15% to 22%. The mean estimate of analysts is
for 2008 revenue of $59.2 million.
Shares closed Wednesday at $14.55.
