About the Lawsuit
Avalanche and certain of its executives are charged with failing
to disclose material information during the Class Period, violating
federal securities laws.
The lawsuit alleges that Avalanche made false statements and
omissions regarding its Phase 2a study of its lead product,
AVA-101, a single sub-retinal injection to treat an advanced form
of Age-Related Macular Degeneration, a progressive disease
affecting the region of the eye responsible for central
vision. These false statements and omissions included, in
part, that: (i) the trial was not designed to show
statistically significant differences between the active and
control subjects in the secondary endpoints; (ii) the drug showed
little improvement in visual acuity above baseline; (iii) retinal
thickness actually increased among the treatment group; and (iv)
the trial was improperly designed.
