ABC Advertising Sales Chief Geri Wang To Step Down

Dow Jones News
ABC's advertising sales chief Geri Wang is stepping down from
network, becoming the latest TV ad executive to head for the exits
in recent months.
"It has been an honor and a privilege to represent ABC for these
past 27 years," Ms. Wang said in a statement. ABC did not name a
successor for Ms. Wang, who will leave the network in March of next
year.
The network said it was Ms. Wang's decision to retire from
ABC.
Ms. Wang, who was promoted to president of ABC sales in 2010,
joins a growing list of ad sales executives to leave big TV
networks recently. In September, TV veteran Toby Byrne announced
his exit from Fox Networks Group and AMC's Arlene Manos said she
would move to a president emeritus role. NBC Sports Group's Seth
Winter said he would step down from his role as well.
Viacom's former ad sales chief Jeff Lucas left for Snap Inc.
over the summer, while Discovery's Joe Abruzzese announced in July
that he would retire at the end of the year.
Ms. Wang's departure comes as TV companies gear up for the
annual spring "upfronts," where networks show off their new fall
shows to advertisers in the hopes of securing billions of dollars
in ad commitments.
