MONTREAL, April 12, 2017 /CNW/ -- ABB, specializing in energy and automation technologies, is happy to hear the announcement today by the Government of Québec that it will continue to invest in sustainable development initiatives by offering avenues of consultation to encourage the implementation of sustainable projects in electric mobility.

Ms. Dominique Anglade, minister of Economy, Science and Innovation and minister responsible for the Digital Strategy, made the official announcement at the Forum de mobilisation sur la création d'une grappe sur les véhicules électriques et intelligents [mobilisation forum on the creation of a cluster on electric and intelligent vehicles], alongside Mr. Laurent Lessard, minister of Transport, Sustainable Mobility and Transport Electrification, minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and minister responsible for the Centre‑du‑Québec region, Mr. Pierre Arcand, minister of Energy and Natural Resources, minister responsible for the Plan Nord and minister responsible for  the Côte-Nord region, and Mr. David Heurtel, minister of Sustainable Development, the Environment and the Fight Against Climate Change.

ABB is very happy with the presentation of the Government of Québec this morning and the new Grappe industrielle pour le développement du transport électrique et intelligent [industrial cluster for the development of electric and intelligent transport].

A base in Montreal, ABB and its new North-American Centre of Excellence in E-mobility announced in Davos earlier this year, will be inaugurated on May 24, 2017, falls in line with the aspirations of Québec.

"We intend to bring many solutions for urban transport and the recharge infrastructure, including possible alliances with the electric vehicle manufacturing and construction players," stated Nathalie Pilon, CEO of ABB Canada.

ABB's new Montreal Campus will open on May 24, 2017, at the official inauguration of the new Canadian ABB head office. Representing an investment of 90 million dollars, the new ABB installations offer a pioneering environment that brings together the engines of the energy and industrial revolution: on the one part our workforce equipped to take up the challenge of the digital transformation, and on the other part our cutting-edge technologies to energize the future of the ecosystem of innovation in Canada.
