AKRON, Ohio, Sept. 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- A. Schulman, Inc. (NASDAQ: SHLM) announced today that it is expanding capacity for engineered plastics at its San Luis Potosi, Mexico facility.
The expansion will enable A. Schulman to more effectively serve its customers in Mexico, Latin America and throughout North America, and to deliver innovations from the Company's new product development efforts. The new capacity will be focused on specialty engineered nylons, polyesters, and high-performance alloys.

Schulman's commitment to better serve our customers' needs in the Americas and will move our Company closer to our strategic goal of becoming a leading engineered plastics supplier in selected market niches," said Gustavo Perez, General Manager - Mexico and Latin America.
The added capacity, which will be approximately 5 million pounds, is expected to come on line during the second quarter of fiscal 2010.
The Company's subsidiary, A. Schulman de Mexico, is located in San Luis Potosi and is the number-one manufacturer of masterbatch concentrates for the packaging industry in Mexico. The subsidiary also has sales offices in Guadalajara, Monterrey and Mexico City.
