BRUSSELS (Thomson Financial) - The European Commission said it has cleared
3i Group's proposed acquisition of a 49 percent stake in the bags and
accessories division of Antichi Pellettieri SpA.
3i will buy the stake in Antichi Pellettieri Bags, which owns brands like
Coccinelle, Braccialini and Mandarina Duck, for 128 million euros.
Antichi Pellettieri is controlled by Marriella Burani Fashion Group SpA.,
which is in turn controlled by Burani Designer Holding SpA.
The case was examined under the EU's 'simplified' merger review procedure for
cases, which the commission believes do not pose competition concerns.
