Today, Yahoo! Inc. (YHOO) announced a month-long initiative to
highlight the social causes most important to young people in
collaboration with DoSomething.org, one of the largest
organizations for young people and social change in the world.
As DoSomething.org’s knowledge partner for the month of October,
Yahoo will highlight select causes supported by young people to its
over one billion users around the world, helping to drive awareness
and support. Yahoo will also donate ten cents to DoSomething.org
for every eligible Yahoo search on mobile web in October, up to $1
million*.
Yahoo partnered with DoSomething.org because they are experts at
helping people take action. Action is also at the core of Yahoo
Search; the company is focused on delivering search results that
help users get things done immediately from their mobile phone.
Both Yahoo and DoSomething.org believe that to take action and make
a difference in the world, users need access to the right
knowledge.
"Action is at the core of Yahoo Search, so it was a natural fit
for DoSomething.org (action is part of our name!) and Yahoo to team
up for the new product initiative," said Naomi Hirabayashi, Chief
Marketing Officer at DoSomething.org. "Whether you're searching for
ways to take action on issues you care about or searching for news
about your favorite celebrity, using Yahoo Search will support
DoSomething.org to help us activate more young people on issues
they care about."
Ready to act? Go to do.yahoo.com on your mobile phone browser to
make your searches matter this month. Every type of query will
count, whether you’re trying to find volunteer opportunities or
order a pizza.
Getting the right answers really makes a difference, so visit
do.yahoo.com on your mobile phone now!
*During October, Yahoo will donate 10 cents to DoSomething.org
for each eligible search performed in the U.S., up to $1 million.
To initiate eligible searches, users should visit do.yahoo.com
using their mobile phone and perform a query. Following the initial
search at do.yahoo.com, each additional yahoo.com search performed
from that mobile phone will also trigger a donation. See complete
campaign details for more information.
