SAN JOSE, Calif., July 23, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Xilinx, Inc.
(NASDAQ: XLNX) today announced its SDAccel development environment
has been named a winner in the EE Times and EDN 2015 UBM Canon ACE
Awards in the Ultimate Product – Development Kit category.
The awards program honors the people and companies behind the
technologies and products that are changing the world of
electronics. The winners were announced at an awards ceremony
on Tuesday, July 21, at the
Santa Clara Convention Center,
during the Embedded Systems Conference Silicon Valley.
The SDAccel development environment was chosen for the 2015 ACE
Award due to its ability to enable up to 25X better
performance/watt for data center application acceleration
leveraging software programming languages and FPGAs. Featuring the
industry's first architecturally optimizing compiler, the SDAccel
environment supports any combination of OpenCL™, C, and C++
kernels, along with libraries, development boards and the first
complete CPU/GPU like development and run-time experience for
FPGAs.
"We are honored to receive such high accolades for one of
Xilinx's new software defined development environments," said
Tom Feist, senior director of Design
Methodology Marketing at Xilinx. "Being selected by UBM as an ACE
award winner is a testament to the hard work of the SDAccel
development team and Xilinx's dedication to provide innovations
that directly enable a much broader community of software and
systems engineers to develop applications that are both software
defined and hardware optimized.
"We are continually amazed at the level of creativity in the
design, innovation and technology exemplified by these award
winners," said Suzanne Deffree,
Executive Editor at UBM Canon's EDN. "The ACE Awards celebrate the
highest achievements in innovation and creativity in electronics
design, and selecting one organization or individual that stands
out above the rest is incredibly challenging. We are pleased to be
able to celebrate their achievements."
A panel of EE Times and EDN editors narrowed down the entries to
three finalists in each category, based on the criteria set forth
in an online submission form. Winners are determined from
among the finalists by a panel of independent judges. For more
