NEW YORK, April 26, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Wunderman, a leading global digital agency, today announced that Sami Thessman has been appointed as Chief Creative Officer of the flagship New York office. Thessman joins Wunderman New York from Havas Worldwide where he served as Executive Creative Director.

With more than 17 years of international experience, Thessman has demonstrated the ability to create award-winning global brand campaigns. In his new role, Thessman will lead accounts including United Airlines, Coca-Cola, E*TRADE and Isle of Capri, partnering with Jamie Gallo, President of Wunderman New York, and working closely with Lincoln Bjorkman, Wunderman's global chief creative officer.

"Sami is a proven leader able to combine technology, data and storytelling in order to help brands build innovative campaigns, with particular expertise in the technology and financial sectors," said Jamie Gallo, President of Wunderman New York. "His entrepreneurial mindset and technology expertise will help our clients push the boundaries of consumer engagement, and build Wunderman's business."

Thessman's appointment follows Wunderman New York's significant new business wins. The flagship recently became direct agency of record for E*TRADE, responsible for creative strategy, direct mail and data & analytics; Wunderman New York is also responsible for all of Isle of Capri's direct marketing and is leading digital and branding initiatives for the Major League Baseball Players Association.

"With more than a thousand data scientists partnering with thousands of creatives across the world, Wunderman is uniquely able to help global brands listen to – and engage – their audiences across all social, mobile and digital platforms," said Thessman. "I'm excited to join Wunderman New York, the agency is well-positioned to meet the demands of this developing industry and I'm ready to help further the insight-driven offering."

Prior to joining Havas New York in 2015, Thessman was the global executive creative director for Hong Kong-based TBWA, where he successfully led Infiniti and was a member of TBWA's global Digital Arts Network. Thessman transferred to TBWA Hong Kong from TBWA Helsinki, where he served as executive creative director and was a member of the Management Team.  While there, Thessman led Nissan in the Nordics and Baltics and worked with leading brands including Asuntomessut, Instrumentarium, Tieto, Turvatiimi and Valio.
